Post by: matthg40 on December 07, 2011, 09:18:30 PM
Alright all this may give you a headache reading this but need advice.i own a white polo g40 with a personalized number plate on.i brought another ones which was a rolling shell and transferred everything from the white one to the new g40. Now I need to take the personal plate off the white one but It needs insuring and tax. It is taxed but has no mot so question is can I swap the plate still Many thanks matt

not quite true pete  ;)
the car must have been mot'd in the last 12 months if it is out of mot and has been for over a year then its not possible

beware though the dvla may want to inspect the car

mine had been off the road for 9 months without mot and it was just a shell and i managed to get my plate on retention ;)

when i spoke to the dvla they said if they did want to inspect it i would have to take the shell to wherever but they never asked
