Rite here goes when my 40 drops below 1000 revs it stalls I ve checked all earths and now I'm stuck I can do anything with my eyes closed on my polo but soon as it comes to electrics I'm stuck if anyone has pointers for me please suggest many thanks matt
Checked for vacuum leaks?
Yes mate I've swapped everything over from my old polo to a rolling shell do the engine came out in one piece so I'm still stuck lol
I've. Checked vacuum leak throttle body all perfect pal
I've just took my g out and notices that the headlights are flickering like mad is this linked
Could be, the voltage to the ECU is critical...
Ah well I'm baffled then matey I dontnno what else to try
It could be 1 of 1000 things.
In honesty, as you admit you're not experienced with electricals and electronics then I'd be tempted to take it to a well-know and recommended car diagnostician.
Yer I was thinking that mate one last thing where is my isv as I have never cleaned it and touched it that could be part of the problem
ISV is below the inlet manifold, bolted to the top of the water pipe that runs along the back of the block
Awesome thank you for your help mate
Also check your alternator charge rate and battery with a vm, the car will run crap if it's undercharging and that would proberly explain your lights flickering too!
Any idea what the charge rate should be pal
should get a good 13v or more across the battery terminals with engine running and everything electrical switched on, headlights, heater fan, rear window demister etc...
Thank you for that mate will get the multimeter out later
Ah I've also noticed it's fine when it's cold but soon as the engine starts to warm up it starts stalling
Check if all your grounds are connected. You might forgot one. I know I had similar problems when one of mine had broken I think it was the one that goes from the charger to ground (If one exists. I can't remember. I use one with my eaton now). Also if it stalls when dropping under 1000 check your airflow sensor for dirt and the isv.
Nice one mate will recheck earths and have a look at isv
