Title: Oil Consumption
Post by: fil_rite13 on August 23, 2011, 07:24:30 PM
Noticed my G has started using a drop of oil but theis only seems to be when i've been driving on boost, car is on 106k and charger was serviced about 14k ago and has only been run on a standard pully, is it time for a rebuild or is this the beginning of another problem  ???

Unless it's smoking I wouldn't worry about it. All engine use some oil and a 100k plus G40 certainly will.

I'd remove a boost hose and check how much oil is in there.

Mine does, but it's spouting it out the dipstick and boost return - charger port, not the exhaust :D

Its not smoking. Will whip a boost hose off tomorrow lunchtime and see if there is an amount inside.

It would be smoking on boost if there was oil in the pipes although its worth noting that you can't always see smoke yourself when you look in the mirror. Best to get someone to follow you.

how much are you loosing, over how many miles? thats the question you should be asking yourself!

also examine the plugs as they will tell you a good history of the engine, since the plugs were last changed/cleaned
