Hi chaps.
I'm getting round to fitting my replacement K03 but how do I clock the turbo round so its in a suitable position to use on a G40 (outlet facing down and swapping the actuator over to the other side)
I have undone the bastard 10mm bolts, used a 3/8 spanner instead, worked a treat.
But I cant seem to get the turbo to spin round, is it a case of putting it in a vice and really going for it, or is there more that needs to be loosened?
Cheers
Should just be the bolts, if it's secondhand like mine is then it'll take a fair bit of 'persuasion'!
Have risen this thread from the dead...!
I'm having trouble with the 6 10mm bolts that clamp down the two parts of the turbo. Access is tight on all the bolts - with either 10mm open ended spanner or ground-down ring spanner. I'm finding the open-ended (Halfords Advanced, decent quality) spanner is just opening the jaws and stripping the bolt heads. Unfortunately not all the bolts can be accessed with a ring. Have coated in in WD40 overnight (lost the PlusGaz >:( ) but still no joy.
Once the bolts are loosened and the little brackets swung out of the way, is it possible to seperate the turbo easily and replace these 6 bolts?
I've a feeling most are going to get stripped on the way out.
If anyone has any tips please I'd love to hear them! Heat next? I'll try to source a 3/8" spanner too on Max's suggestion.
yeah easy to replace them once they are loose. It's ages since I undid them but I have a feeling mole grips came into the equation.
4 of 6 done. May well have to be mole grips for the remaining 2...they look a bit 'cooked'. Thanks Hayesey
I hacksawed mine off.
Had to resort to the hacksaw also. Turbo all 'clocked' (using vice, blocks of wood and breaker bar) and ready to fit :)
