no its not you want a late spec 16v golf mk2 one - the 22.2mm one
and the mod only reduces pedal travel (and makes braking a bit harder)
Well my pedal goes really far down, its been bled so im assuming the master cylinders had it. There may still be some air in it, is there an easy way of checking?
More likely your brake shoes are needing adjusted; the auto adjust on the polo's pretty poor.
Ahhh now thats a possibility. It started doing this after the shoes were replaced!
How do i adjust them?
I remember reading somewhere go in reverse quickly and slam the brakes on hard and it shocks it into adjusting. not sure if that's hearsay or what though. Opening them up and setting them is the best way I'd ahve thought, you can check stuff too and clean excess dust out, etc.
you can adjust the shoes without taking the drum off again. take the wheel off and with the hand brake off, look through one of the wheel stud holes and you can see the tapered wedge with a spring attached to the bottom of it. if you can get something strong enough with a point (i buffed a screw driver) on it its pretty easy. stick the point in the hole on the wedge where the spring locates and wiggle it down wards till you get the correct adjustment.
There might be an easier way i don't know
I'll give it a try, thanks guys.
