Andy & Me went to do some shakedown on my car today at Bruntingthorpe- first time the car has been run in 2 years, new suspension, new brakes, new turbo, so needed lots fo setting up, adjusting, and general refinement.
So we fitted our new knock box (replaced stock knock sensor) which Andy found noisy but deffinately required for a stripped out car, and had both my wideband, and our standalone wideband in. Suffice to say, more gauges than anything else!
Anyway, early on it was apparent the car was very sketchy in the wet ( I almost span a few times), so some suspension tweaks, tyre pressure revisions had us alot more stable, few arch modifications and all was well.
Once we were happy with the suspension, moved onto the brakes, did a few laps to bed them in, before some WOT runs.
So, first v-max run.... 140mph- and my carbon bonnet splits in two and half buggers off into the distance at a rapid pace!!
Ahem:

So, onto a few more high speed runs minus the top half of the bonnet!

Who is massively special, but did all the mapping today whilst I was trying to make him sick. :)
Estimate the car at 220bhp (+/- 5bhp) some more refinement to be done over the coming weeks/months, will extract a few more bhp from the package.
Cheers
Yoof
very nice, like the new bonnet vents.
First impressions compared to a k03 ??

First impressions compared to a k03 ??
Quicker!
Powerband on K03 was 3k to 6k, it's now shifted by 1000rpm. I think on the road in normal conditions (I.e not being on the ball, a K03 would be quicker), fast road and track, I think this setup will be superior.
Andy made an interesting point that if Blyton trackday is busy, he'll be hussling me to get past, so I've got to try and not let that happen!
Running 20/21psi at the moment, turbo has alot more in it, but would probably require a 300kPa sensor, and more mapping time, for now I'm going to enjoy it, thrash it, and refine it a little more :D
Good effort bet your glad to be back behind the wheel, shame about the bonnet though !
haha, obviously a quality item that bonnet. Good job it happened there though and not on road or in the middle of a busy track day.
Car is looking good in the videos!
hahahah spot on!
dont think these were designed for 150mph- so its not a shock it tried to undress itself!
Good effort! My bonnet wobbles at 90+
I guess it also wouldn't have happened if you were using bonnet pins
Epic! You were saying at BVF that the bonnet wasn't up to much. I guess it wasn't!
well it was up something! up up and away!
is it salvagable yoof?
Sweet man did you get a chance to get on the alpine test track thing? Went down for a jag racing day a couple of years back.
Sounds good in the video should be a good laugh at blyton!
I love your car yoof. Good to see it running and good power figures there.
Hopefully i will see you at polo show.
Bonnet was crap to start with to be fair, I've had 2 All Smiles ones now, neither of them decent! Will probably pin it over winter and get some proper bonding agent and have it painted.
Saf- Sure you're not thinking of MIRA? They've got a proper alpine handling course, Brunters don't have one :)
