Right, we've sorted a supply for toothed belts. They are german quality made under Continental by Contitech.
These are importantly the right length, width and tooth profile for PSD toothed belt pullies. So they shouldn't wear your pully out like wrong profile ones may. They are a HTD - high torque belt.
Always handy to have a spare in case of teeth strippage or belt snap.
These are £15.50 a belt and £3.50 delivery - paypal accepted.
just recieved my belt this morning and it is too big...my pulleys say PSD on them so they are definately from pitstop developments, does the pulley size make a difference? will you be able to get one that is the same size as a polo 16v cambelt?
right scratch that previous comment^^
after some more research and a look at my charger i realised that you can move the charger to tension the toothed belt. there is a large allen key bolt that looks to me like the charger pivots on (to the right of the charger) and then another large bolt (to the left of the charger). are these the only two bolts i need to loosen in order to move the charger and tension the toothed belt?
yes it is, although you sometimes have to alter the alternator position (a little bit of movement in this makes a lot of difference)
pete
can you do a 1020 for the same price?
they only do 960s and 1040s - apparently 1016 is another size and 1000 - but they tend to be custom made - our supplier doesnt do them.
Can you not get 1040s to fit, a few people (myself included and Samg40) have had to fiddle with the alternator/boost pipe. but they fit eventually!
I have the charger adjusted as much as it will go, and the mounting bracket for the alternator does not have a space to adjust the position. It's still too slack, it hits against the top engine mount. Any ideas?
undo all alternator bolts. There are only mm of movement but shove it down and out as far as you can!. then nip it up and try to tension the belt
Does the bracket on your alternator not allow any adjustment dknight? How have you got around it? You reckon a 1020 belt will do the trick?
Pete do you do 1000? mine says 1000 8m omega HP optibelt
20mm width ?
after andy strange told me - i adjusted my alternator, as did samg40 on here and it worked fine.
Can't get hold of 1000 or 1020s - they are custom lengths
1040s are easy to get hold of, hence why psd used them for their design
Have you managed to tension your belt (sounds wierd when said out loud :P) yet?
There is a part on the gsf web site which i reckon is the plate that attatches the bottom of the alternator to the block, with the gap to allow adjustment. Check out part no 90498. What do you think?
If not the only other option i can think of is a 1020 belt, however the cheapest i have been able to get them is £28 each from a guy on clubpolo.
This is the only problem with my car now and it is blagging my head.
Anyone any ideas?
hmm, tbh I do think they are overkill - I've only ever heard of original belts snapping - or one where a 60mm pulley was used, which caused the top bearings to seize.
Still sell these?
we do yes
I got a psd toothed belt kit but need a belt, wat one would I need?
one of these 1040 8m belt should be right
slight price increase - now £14 - due to increase in vat and increase in cost from suppliers
can i get one of these belts?
thanks
darren
Any news on them belts Pete?
Got a spare which isnt perfect but will do if i need it!
bloomin nora - only ordered them for you on monday! i'll let you know as soon as they are with me!
Sorry. i have a habit of wanting bits at the last minute
Paypal'd the money across Pete :)
will a 1020 8m fit even though i need a 1000 8m? or does it have to be exact?
couldn't tell you!
i can only really find the 1000s on german sites, but looks like thats my only way
think i might've sorted a supplier. Will get a couple in and you can test them - see quality etc, as they aren't sure what brand they can supply. Will be same price as other belts we supply £14+post.
Let me know if your interested. May take a week to get to you
Pete

Cheers.
the ones we sell should fit psd phase one and 2s - its the size belt psd designed pullies to be used with if you wnat one pm me
Hi I pmd you yesterday about a belt I need and no reply are you still doing these ??
can only supply 1040s for psd toothies - not 1000 for german steel toothed belt kits
The 1000 8m ones mine uses an Optibelt Omega HP 1000 8m, (20mm wide) I did a couple of thousand miles no issues but hasnt been used in 3 years, I'm speaking with Optibelt currently through work on them just need to check the width on them but if they are 20mm the belts are £18 from them direct.
Mine toothies are the Austrian ones people were buying a few years back.
i can ask about them from a belt supplier i use for the internal charger belts
yeah could do Pete, I've ordered one to see if they are the same as what I have nearly £25 with postage! Yours are a bargain :)
