re fitted my fuel tank today, the breather pipe number 6 in the picture just isnt quite long enough. Firstly am i correct in thinking this is a simple breather pipe ? i would usualy replace the hose with a slightly longer one as the pattern fuel tank from gsf obviously doesnt fit exactly the same (i did trial fit it first but didnt try all the pipes on) but somone has filled the cavity between the inner and outer skins of my car with expandable building foam im not sure the foam is stopping me from moving the hose but its stuck solid.
my second question is as it is a breather could i get away with just clamping it on the end as its under no pressure im thinking a high clam load on the hose tail from the fuller neck isnt realy important. could i do without this hose or is it best to just join it and extened it ?? i have included a photo so you can see what im talking about, thanks

You'll have to extend the hose; it's a must have.Once the fuel level's above the bottom of the filler neck, the air above it vents through that hose otherwise no fill.
Right I understand that but does that pipe necceserely need to vent into the filler neck as long as it vents to the atmosphere somwhere it should fill up anyway ??!
It probably vents to the filler to stop you getting pockets of petrol vapour in your body work.
