Title: Hello to all! A G40 owner from Spain!!
Post by: demoG40 on October 07, 2008, 10:19:43 PM
Hi everyone! G40 alive

I am from Galicia, Spain.
I have a G40 from a few months ago, a real rocket.
although I have a little problem with the car idling.
when i turn on it,  sometimes fails, dances and is quite low rpm, even once it turns off the engine.
does the same when unemployment in a stop.
I've led a workshop officer vw and have looked and adjusted the idling and a few more things but the failure continues.
I am a little tired because of that failure, and here there are no mechanical who want to work in G, because it are unknown here.
I hope some of you can help me!
Another question:
can i  put off a blow to the G40?

Excuse me for my english, i hope you understand me a bit.

Bye!

A huge hug from spain

hi welcome to the forum.

Idle problem sounds like it may be the aux air valve which is underneath the inlet manifold, this is a picture of mine:

the ideal fix is to buy a new one but they are VW-only and not very cheap (I think about £70 in the UK).  You can clean them with petrol or carb cleaner though which should make things better.

Your other question do you mean a dump valve?  This kind of thing:

They aren't suitable for use with a supercharger.  The idea behind things like this is to stop turbo compressors from stalling when lifting off the throttle.  This isn't an issue with a supercharged engine, the boost return valve that VW put on there in the first place is the best method of controlling air flow off-boost.

the aux air valve is underneath the inlet manifold.  I believe it is possible to remove it without taking the inlet manifold off.  I've only ever done it by removing the inlet manifold first though.  Here's a pic of it in situ with the inlet manifold removed:

Perfect!
That is on the side of the G?
would only have to remove the "fat" tube of admission and below this there?
a greeting and thank you very much

it's at the back of the engine, underneath here:

Hi!

I clean it 1 hour ago.

the valve is half broken, is slack, i seal it with a product and the idling improved enough, but I have to buy the new valve to change, and change every step sleeves ACCEPTANCE

Thank other time!

its possible to remove without taking the inlet manifold off BUT its bastard fiddly to put back on again (unless you have small hands like me!)
