Shell in itself is no different, it was all in the parts fitted to it. Mine is an original G40 and it says "Polo Coupe G40" on my old school logbook.

What are the main features on a polo g40 that separate it from a gt or a standard polo model

Shell wise, not much- beesting aeriel in the roof, and a small rubber grommet in the NS wing.

Speak to the DVLA and see if the numbers match up.

If I remember correctly the hole for the beesting in the roof is square. If someone had cut it out of a non G40 shell it's most likely to be round.

The chassis number is different for G40's isn't it? I'd have thought it'd have a different code so they could match it up with the corresponding parts when being built anyway :/
