Post by: G40 AD on June 05, 2011, 05:57:27 PM
Hi - just wondering if anyone has a set of carriers to run 256mm brake on my G40  vag part no.853 615 125

these came on:
Audi 80 quattro (83 to 85)
Audi 90 5-cylinder (85 to 87)
Audi Coupe 5-cylinder (85 to 88
Scirocco 16V

let me know if you have a set or any other alternatives that would allow me to run a brake upgarde on the G40.

cheers,

vauxhall vectra brakes and carriers fit straight on for 256 conversion, only need to re tap the hubs to the m12 vauxhall bolts

cool! cheers mate - do you know if they have to be from a certain year or model? I saw a set of 256mm brakes off a tigra go very cheap on ebay the other day but wasnt sure if they'd do the trick... will do some research!

might be a long shot but could you not use a vw 256mm disc and retain the vw bolts?

Cheers,

or you can use shoulder bolts, which have an m12 sleeve and m10 threaded portion which goes into the hub,

others have used an m10 bolt, with a stainless sleeve.

adam is after the VW carriers though if possible, just to keep it all OEM+

you use the golf gti mk2 discs (256mm) jobbies. theres a faq post on club polo about the vauxhall conversion along with links for the vw mk1 owners club archive, which is where i got the info from, but it was ripped from the VW Caddy forum
