Title: Exhaust manifold question
Post by: langersG40 on June 03, 2011, 12:26:46 AM
Hi all, will a Polo GT decat exhaust manifold and down pipe fit my G40 and also what do I do with the lambda sensor??
Is it going to make a noticeable difference in power?
Many thanks

Chris

Without ever seeing under a GT bonnet I'd imagine you're on a loser. G40 manifold has to contend with charger in close proximity; GT doesn't. G40 de-cat downpipe has lambda boss fitted.

I've a Ashley 4-2-1 manifold meant for a GT fitted to mine. Bought about 7 years ago before G40 stuff became more plentiful.
Yes it fitted but I did lose the use of the charger bracket that bolts to the block by the manifold.
As far as the decat, I just drilled a hole in the single pipe where the cat was, welded on a suitable nut & threaded the lambda in. As far as I know, due to the lambda placement, sampling the gases before the cat, this is an acceptable thing to do.

Powerwise-no idea. Currently working on returning the car to road-worthiness after a long long time in hibernation.

isnt the G40 OEM manifold slightly bigger or is that just internal dimensions?
