Title: Rear Drums Uprating options
Post by: xrrich on May 14, 2011, 01:27:03 PM
Hi, i have found alot of ideas about uprating the front brakes, but cant find anything about uprating the back.
Dont want rear discs,
Just wondered if there are better rear cylinders or drums to get?

Or whether a re haul of drums shoes and cylinders and braided hoses with be sufficient

Thanks
RIch

Overhauls probably sufficient, you can adjust the rear compensator for more rear braking but be careful not to overadjust it. Passat 200mm drums and cylinders can be fitted not sure if you have to change stub axle think you do. Not sure if you would need a bias valve instead of compensator for passat drums I know you definantly do if you run discs.

IMO just not worth it, they do next to nothing but any power at the back is dangerous on such a lightweight car. Braided hoses for overall feel but otherwise just keep em maintained.

Same^^^^^^ polo mk3's just don't warrent anything more than drums on the back they just don't weigh enough just in process of turboing my loon and changing the rear brakes hasn't even crossed my mind
