Personally I'd get a G60, more room to tune, better fuel efficiency and Tiff Needell said the lighter engine on the G60 meant it handled better. But hear the VR6 is a much better cruiser, eats up the miles some say!
going for the vr because of the heated leather and the noise its a car on my list of car i need to own and there not getting easier to find so may aswell have one now before its to late and before go go juice gets any more expensive
be wary of the storm tax - pay about £500-1000 more for the storm badge and some late spec rado vr6s have the same spec leathers etc!
also - above 120k should have the chains done ideally - its a £1k job at a garage.
being late spec vr6 means you have a late spec dash - which usually means its broken in some way (headlight switches/heater controls etc)
General rule of thumb. If the part on a rado is on other vws - golf/polo etc. Then its bullet proof. If its corrado only, its sh1t and will break and therefore is expensive to replace.
heated seats wot wot
Thanks for the heads up i'm very aware of the storm tax i've done alot of research on them so hopefully wll spot any problems going to look tonight so hopefully if all is well i'll have another car to add to the collection which means the mrs is gonna kick my head in because it will be my 4th car on the drive not counting the saloon in the garage lol
I do love our Corrado but yeah they have their faults. Like Pete says, any Corrado late spec specific parts are poo. I've had the bonnet cable snap, the heater controls break (twice), the headlight switch break, both door handles and the heater matrix went pop. Thats a lovely dash out job. :'(
Saying that though we've been to the four corners of the country in it including right up to the isle of skye and on a long journey like that its awesome. Comfortable but show it a decent road and they do handle really well and once you learn how to get the best out of the VR6 they are a good lump. I started off trying to drive it like I do the G and didnt enjoy it but they are a completely different experience. We keep thinking about getting rid but we have no idea what we'd replace it with.
If you do get one some good upgrade are TT wipers, a headlight loom (there are several suppliers on the Corrado forum) and mk4 rear calipers if yours are seizing. The Corrado forum is really useful too, lots of knowledge on there.
Went and had a look got there before the guy got back from work and left before he turned up it was a nail in my opinion so back to hunting for another
This is a nice one on the Corrado Forum. For the spec its not a bad price, few quid sorting the paint and it could really nice that. Its had all the costly bits done already only problem is where its located.

yeah already had a quick look at that one i'm after a standard one in good condition i've got enough to buy a mint one so just going to be patient and wait for the right one. I'm more than happy to travel but you always run the risk of the car being a dog when you get there its amazing how you can make a car look in a photo after you've adjusted it on a fancy computer program
There's a mint Storm on there at the moment with only 37k on the clock but he wants £14k for it! Dont think he'll see anywhere near that. I'll keep an eye out for you.
I've seen it i've only got about 8k but dont want to spend it all
How about buying one cheap and spending the remainder on restoring it? It'll be better than a low miler with new parts and you'd have the added peace of mind that it won't go wrong........as everything will have been replaced with new items?
This is a very good point but for a good spray job your looking at a couple of grand plus i want leather and as low miles as possible so it would end up being a money pit that way
8K for a Storm? Id pay 5K max in this current market, and that pushing it!

Exactly i dont even wanna spend 4k tbh putting it on back burner anyway n being sensible n turboing g40 and looking for a cheap run around van for work
If you buy a corrado vr changing the chains aint rocket science i helped my mate on his £500 the dealers quoted we got the parts from ecp for £180 n it took about an hour. My mates got a rado paid 3800 for it blocks fubarred but he got tt brakes a shrick inlet audi tt leathers n loads of other bits. I personally wouldnt go for a storm cos they are massively overpriced.
I'm assuming you had the engine out of the car if it only took you an hour to change the chains?
