Title: Coilovers general ideas
Post by: Etches on March 04, 2011, 07:54:57 PM
At this minute im saving for some coilovers as well as other things, having uprated shocks n springs before i decided to get coilovers instead plus i already have some for the back.

For the fronts there are a couple of options. I just wanted to know if anyone has any feedback on the ones i know that are availble, any comments will be helpful.

-- Phil J has started to supply polo front and rear coilovers its £350 for the fronts, has anyone tried these?

-- Gaz have been doing them for a while think there about £500, Hayesey has em on his. Whats peoples thoughts on these?

-- Home made, i know some people have done this if so what coilovers did you buy to weld the steering arm onto and any thoughts on em?

Cheers Guys

Well i had always planned on getting the gaz kit as i have heard nothing but good things from various people however the fact that it was on an exchange basis with your own struts i never got round to it.

I then got adjustable shocks from avo and fitted them and to be honest over the space of a couple months i never really used the adjusment much so it got me thinking if height and dampening adjustment was really something i needed.

So long story short after a few beers i ended up buying a full kit off phil on club polo. when they arrived they turned out to be TA Technix.  On inspection they look sound, welds ect look fine only thing i wasnt sure on was the protection from the paint finish but that was sorted with a lick of decent paint.  I cannot comment on the ride yet as the car is not fully complete yet but i think its fair to say it will be "ok to firm" but as mine is not a daily i think i can live with it.

To be honest if you can afford it i would say get the Gaz kit, i still have a little voice in the back of my head saying i should of bought it.ha ha.

Dunno if this helps.. few beers = life story reply ha ha

cheers Grant
