Title: Clutch bolts- what size?
Post by: ereeiz on February 25, 2011, 06:08:31 PM
I'm sticking the engine back in my 6n2 (only took a year!) but have lost the bolts to hold the clutch onto the flywheel, They look about M6 but every M6 I tried seemed too small and an M8 was too large, so either I was using M5's or it's an M7 hole? ???

It's the 1.4 16v annoying twin cambelt engine (75BHP?) W reg.

Anyone got any in my area (Worcester/Gloucester by the end of the M50), or know what size they are so I can go get some first thing (I want to MOT it tomorrow!). I know it's not a G40 but VW normally use the same bolts for stuff, so at worst if someone told me the dimensions for a G I'd go get some of them. Really pissed off as I had to do two trips to the motor factors to get the clutch, then take it back and get another as it had the wrong thrust bearing >:( They probably have some anyway but I thought I'd ask on here in case they don't and I can go somewhere else to buy them off the shelf.

Thankin Ye!

Cheers pal! I'll see if I can get some tomorrow.

Funny, they are M7. There was me thinking I was wrong with my guesstimations too  ;D

Gonna Try GSF first thing I reckon!

For future reference; They were the correct bolts and GSF don't sell them, had to go to the Audi dealers in Worcester instead, cost approx 40p each.
