just a question regarding the master cylinder, im currently on my standard one from the 1.3 bready beast, so will i need to upgrade it to accommodate the new callipers on the back or can I still use it, if i do need to upgrade what are the recommended upgrades available

Use a master cylinder from whatever car the brakes have come from, then it should be fairly well matched. If not already fitted, you will probably need to fit a rear brake pressure limiting valve too.
The brakes are from a G40, but im also doing a rear disk conversion at the same time too.
Im wondering if the 22.2 mm one of a Passat would be better suited and if so which year of manufacture of passat do I need?

I always find that's a good upgrade for Polo's. I ask for a 1995 Corrado VR6 Non ABS 22.2mm master cylinder. Makes the pedal feel a lot better. Not bought one in a while but they're about £40 from GSF from memory.

No point buying a 2nd hand one at that price when you can buy a new one for the same money? you could get that and it could fail within 10 miles, with no warranty on it......more importantly could result in death/injury/ broken car
just buy a new one, they're like £20

that link doesnt work, you almost can't buy the wrong one as long as it's for a late 1980s/early 1990s vw and it's the size you want then it'll work. they came on loads on cars.
maybe my price estimate was a bit out of date though!
Its this part number (652VG0250) on the GSF website. says it for a Corrado on the drop down list and 22.2mm but when you go on the add to order page it calls it up for an Ibiza does that sound correct.

I know it's a little more but there's nothing more disheartening than pushing the middle pedal and not getting the result you want. The seals fail, or flip round or something and provide little/ no stopping power when they go= pooey pants :D
they're nearly all the same. if you buy one for a mk2 golf gti 16v then it's definitely right, that's what I have
