Title: Driveshafts - will any fit?
Post by: heartagram on January 22, 2011, 09:15:18 PM
I'm sure what I'm thinking is correct but I wanted to run it buy people who know. G40 shafts are the same as normal mk3 shafts but the shorter (?) shaft is thicker?

So am I right in thinking I can use any but normal ones are probably more likely to die if your giving it beans?

As far as I'm aware all the drivehafts are the same, nothing uprated on the G40.
However, for some reason some of the very late models had slightly different length driveshafts due to the output flanges on the gearboxes being different. Not too sure on the ability to mix and match these though.

From what I've read on here you can use the later shaft but you will need to swap the output flange too.

Driveshafts are the same, but G40's have different CV joints.

Are they different in size or just in strength? Would standard ones be okay to 'get me by' until I get a set of G40 ones. I seldom give my cars a good beating these days, usually just potter along.

In that case I wouldn't worry about sourcing "g40 driveshafts". You'll be fine unless your running big power/LSD/subframe and heavy right foot.
