Title: Oil cooler positioning.
Post by: breadman on January 15, 2011, 08:24:44 PM
Is there any reason why I shouldn't fit my oil cooler (next to the radiator) up under the slam panel with the fittings facing down? I just wondered if it might be a problem being mounted so high up? It'd mean nice short hose runs and a tidy install but more importantly there ain't nowhere else to fit it! (mk2 Polo).
Cheers,
Richard.

I've seen others fitted there so don't think it's a problem

oil coolers come as standard on mk1 golf gtis and are positioned to the left of the radiator so it shouldnt be a problem. if you get an oil temp guage as well, you can determine if your oil temps are acceptable and if not, seek to reposition it elsewhere

Cheers guys.
I will have plenty of airflow to the oil cooler, I was just a little worried about the actual height of the cooler in relation to the engine. Seems like I should be ok though if others have fitted them in a similar place.
Thanks again.

Kano on Polo3 has his fitted right underneath the bonnet catch behind the grille.
