Hi guys, Got my self some bucket seats and am now looking into possible fittement options. One is to pay £109 for a tailored subframe so £220 for 2 - Not likely. I was wondering what other people have done? was thinkin of trying to get some old polo or mk2 golf seats and modify them to fit my new seats to the runners on the floor pan but proving difficult to get a hold of as all the local scrappies now have car crushers?
Or custom fabricate complete sunframes but would like forward and back movement on the drivers seat at least.
Any input welcome
Cheers grant
well in my car I have some subframe thingies that I just made myself but they are welded into the car so dont move at all. Otherwise, I also made some for a friend a few weeks ago to fit buckets into his mk2 golf. Basically get some existing seats as you have said and chop the frames up and weld box section across with holes to bolt the seats too. Notch the box section so it fits over the subframe rails nicely without making the seat very high up (although they will be on the high side anyway).
yeah thats sort of what i was planning, just need to get my hands some old seats.
cheers

Try clubpolo
go with polo runners cos mk2 golf ones dont go back as far if your tall

jesus, I bet that must weigh a ton!
lol i thought the same but shows how to approach making a subframe with the ability to slide the seats just use a lot less metal :)
My buckets came with the rail and the mounting brackets! Really easy to make at the workshop! The brackets were supposed to be for Golf mkII but fitted the polo just fine! I ll post some picks but that will involve in taking one of the seats out and I am really not looking forward to it! :P
mkii golf seats fit in a mk3 polo. But they are generally higher up.
True! ;D I am siting just centimeters from the roof! Being 1,80cm height sucks some times!

It did weigh a ton as I purchased it, only cost £20 or something like that. But it was a passenger side one rather than drivers but it worked and it was a stop gap until I made something else.
This is mk1 design for the my current seat runners.

I want keep the runners as more than 1 person will drive the car and I want to be able to put the existing seats back in for day to day stuff.
