Title: No lamber sensor :/
Post by: dani1326 on November 23, 2010, 08:54:45 PM
Hi all iv been haven a few running problems with my eaton G40 Ie; lumpy idle, jolting when at a constant speed (not I'n boost)

Could this be because the lamber sensor cables have been cut and arnt connected to anything?? Iv got on one order from VW but I's going to take a week to come...

Also could not having a lamber do any damage??

Thanks all

Yeah - this will cause a world of running issues. mainly it will  be running really rich and eating fuel.
any idea why the last owner did that??

the lambda is used for fuel trim on part throttle/cruising.  Without it the ECU is only using the base fuel map with no trim factor so fuelling will be not be ideal.  In real world terms this means you'll be using more fuel than you need to be using.

ohh right..... no i havent got a clue why the last owner did it :/ might be because of the eaton charger??

thats probably why i can always smell petrol ( running rich ) what a bummer that is.....

Old thread I know...but just to add my 2p - I've been able to make my car do exactly as in the video by undoing the idle screw too much.

What cam you using?

My idle is like yours and does jolt. I put it down to being an eaton and my lambda sensor being an unknown quantity. I had to turn my idle up to stop the car cutting out when pulling up.

Piper 252 cam. Lambda is good on mine. Your idle screw is too far out then I reckon Jon. If it cuts out when pulling up then I'd look into the map tbh
