I've bought a pattern G40 back box, but am not sold on the chrome-ish tip at the end of the tailpipe, the same as http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Exhaust-Rear-Pipes-Back-Box-VW-Polo-86C-1-3-G40-new-/200541833895?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2eb1398aa7 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Exhaust-Rear-Pipes-Back-Box-VW-Polo-86C-1-3-G40-new-/200541833895?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2eb1398aa7)
Has anyone removed the tip on one of these? How is best to go about it?
Cheers
Just spray it with satin black paint, would look loads better.
Think they are either push on fit, crimped, or spot welded. Lots of different types
i've had a few of these and they are just welded in two places. Easy enough to grind off and pull the tip off.
The boxes are cheap enough, but do sometimes rasp a tiny bit
I've got one and they are real good for the money. No idea how a VW one would sound though!
Cool. Thanks chaps, I'll give the grinder a go. Cheers.
