Title: Service items
Post by: dannyb.G40 on November 12, 2010, 07:32:45 PM
Evening guys, tommorrow i'm looking to give the car a good service and replace a lot of things on it, heres the list:

Thermostat
Black temp sender
ignition leads
dizzee cap
rotor arm
coil pack (maybe)

Are the GSF items good enough quality for all of these or should I be looking for VAG stuff for any of it? Also ages ago I remember reading a coil conversion from a golf, is this still recommended or is there anything better?

cheers, Danny

Yeah gsf will be ok for those as long as you go for their OEM quality, German made parts and steer clear of some of the really cheap shit they do.  BERU, BBT are good for coils and/or leads

May see more benefit by replacing the blue temp sender rather than the black one? I mean it'll have more of a positive effect on the engine.

Don't forget spark plugs and oil change. ;) :)

Beneficial changing the Vee belts while your at it too.

cheers martin, I changed it not so long back, the engines running at 70 which is why i'm changing the thermostat + black temp sender, hopefully one will solve the problem and they aren't too expensive. Oil change is on the list hardchargin but I have toothed belts which are still in good nick!
