if its correct would i need an new alternator pulley so not to over drive or under drive the pulley
thanks
what crank pulley are you currently using??? it wont be stock if you are using a ribbed belt
awt used a 20v pulley in their conversions i think.
ive got a 20v pulley if you need one
This sounds very interesting! But in my case and since I am an idiot! :-\ I fitted my 6pk crank pulley with an air gun and if I remember correctly I used it on "5"! So its fairly impossible now to get it off! My mechanic tried and failed when he was changing the timing belt. We had to remove engine mounts and move the engine a bit to get the job done! So if anyone knows a way to get this one out I thing I'll try the 20v pulley! ;D
they 20v pulley is VERY heavy from memory
Yes they're a torsional damper, so do weigh a good few kg!
Are you trying to undo the centre 19mm or the x4 6mm allen key cheese head bolts?
center 19
You only need to undo the four outer bolts!
To get the pulley out :o ? The way I recall it you had to undo the center bolt as well to get it off! I ll check it tomorrow as the car is going for its regular service and will be on the car lift for some time!
nope that's for removing the actual crank cog which the timing belt goes on.
I only needed the extra space to get the new timing belt on as my new 6pk (couldn't find a 5pk that would fit) pulley that replaced the v-belt one is a bit wider and doesn't leave much space between it and the chassis leg! I still dont thing though that any pulley would come out unless the 19 bolt only connects the two pulleys together and the 4 bolts hold both pulleys ont the crank shaft! Is that the case?
seriously, you don't need to remove the centre bolt, I must have done this a hundred times.
