Title: Camshaft sproket
Post by: dub-disaster on October 29, 2010, 08:29:31 am
How do you guys hold your vernier pulleys, I had a home made forked tool like in the haynes manual to undo the sproket but the new one (cat cams jobbie) has now holsnin it big enough to fit anything in it.
How do you guys hold it tight when torquing it up ?? Also is the bolt a stretch bolt or can I reuse it ?

i held mine with a chain whip which was protected with a bit of old cambelt.

I've got an old bit of cambelt, you say chain whip is that the same as one of those chain type filter wrench things ?

I wedge a big spanner between the engine mount and one of the sprocket spokes.  Or get someone else to hold a 10mm socket over the bolt head you can see through the spokes, only really works if there are two people.

you can with mine but yeah if it's a flat one then maybe not!  In which case pete's advice is about the best I can also think of.
