Title: End of an era....
Post by: superchargedpolo on October 23, 2010, 03:43:47 PM
I have owned G40's since I was 21 years old (13 years ago now) and never thought I would see the day when I didn't have one.  Since my first test drive I've been in love with the beautiful power delivery and low down torque of the 1.3 G-lader induced engine.  I have owned 1 black, 2 white and 2 metallic blue cars in my time (no red ones!).  My current G is due to depart next weekend to his new owner.  It's going to be a really sad day for me and one I never thought would actually ever come about.

I have met some really helpful, enthusiastic and all round top guys throughout my 13 years of G40 ownership.  I hope the scene stays that way over the coming years.  Special mention to some of the G40 owners I have met or spoken to in this time:
PeteG40
Hayesey
Yoof
NickS
Scotsjohn
Mark Hunter (confusionhunter)
And all the Glasgow SLAGS (Gary etc)

In case anyone is wondering, I'm not getting too old just yet and there will never be anything other than German machinery on my driveway.  I still have my MkV Edition 30 and T5 camper for weekends away.  I just don't get time for the G anymore.

All the best
Craig

I reckon this is just an "au revoir" Craig; you're only half my age, you're bound to be back. Just don't wait too long to prove me right. ATB.

I think you might be right John.  Never say never.
I'm up your way next weekend for a gig.  I have a tonne of stuff I will be selling from the garage.  I can send you a list. If there is anything you want I can bring it up.

Cheers
Craig

ok, then who'll start the bidding on how long it'll be till craig craves a g40 again? ;)

Thanks for the mention, I hope you'll hang around here still.

Who is the new owner then?  Anyone we know?

I know what you mean about end of an era.  I sold up for mortgages, debts and a spiralling out of control project 4-5years ago, miss it badly.  I hoping to get a new shape scirocco as my main car for next year and hopefully it'll open up the avenue for a project G.  I crave one badly.

The Mk5 Edition 30 is a really nice car!  My mate just got one.

All the best.

I'll still be checking out the forum, for sure.  The car might be on it's way to a new owner but I'm still as keen on G40's as ever :)

The new owner has been into G40's as long as me, which is great to hear.  He plans to keep the car mint and original.  I'll let him say more if he wants to.

Cheers
Craig
