right i got a annoying noise on my car i was told it was the dif in that gear box !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

its a polo mk3 1993 fox :) i brought for 200.oo and was told it was wheel bearing but it is not the wheel bearingas the are new :( so i took it to a garage quick and they have told me its the diff in gear box what u all think ??

when i reach about 15mph the whole car basically shakes :/ i can select gear and all perfectly, i am planning to put a new gear box in today before i do what do u lot think !!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah fairly impossible to tell without seeing the car.  You should be able to pick up a replacement gearbox for a mk3 fox for next to nothing if not for free.  Fitting isn't hard really if you know your way around a box of spanners but it's worth having two people there to man-handle the box in and out as they're fairly heavy.

okiaa coool thanks guys .. dw i just payed 80.00 for a 1.3 polo gear box 5 speed instead of 4 :) got gear lincage and everything already started cracking on:)

085 gearboxes (4 or 5 speed) from when they came out to present day are prone to diff bearings going, not to bad to do to be honest, but in the case of your car probably cheapest option is second hand box

ohh rightt okiaa bit worrying well like i said im fitting the 5 speed today ill let you know how it goes alright and if this ones poo lads cud u lot please keep a look out for one for me pleaseee :)

Also check driveshafts for partially seized cv joints
