Title: The Usual
Post by: itsadubthing on August 08, 2010, 09:46:15 PM
Hi All,

Same old question but here goes again.

So far have modded my Polo to the following extent.  So what logically is next?

Stage 4 charger
65 mm pully
custom chip
upgraded Cam
De wedged throttle body
Intercooler stripped, cleaned and re-mounted with better air flow.
Full stainless steel exhaust.

look forward to all your advice.

Thanks

Probably some heavier porting on the charger- a GT Inlet manifold would be a good, cheap addition too.

thanks for your speedy reply.

Where would be the best (well nearest) place to have the porting done, I live in Wigan Greater Manchester.  any ideas

I guess you're limited to either jabbasport or (possibly) G-Werks for the charger porting, neither are anywhere near Wigan though but you can post it to them.

I'd also do some work to the air inlet side of things too.  Either replace the standard airbox with a cone filter encased in a metal heat shield (something like the jabbasport induction kits) or modify the original airbox to remove the restrictor in it's outlet.

Just managed to get a ported and flowed inlet manifold and cat bypass so things are looking up.  shame about the charger companies being so far away.  what is it roughly for a posted r1 upgrade these days anyone know?

cheers

you need to get it serviced when you get it ported(or your bearings etc are full of swarf) so expect to pay £500 ish for a charger service/porting

When you're fitting the GT inlet, is it best to match the inlet ports in the head too? (i've been told its of a higher bore than the standard g40 inlet).

the ports are bigger higher up the inlet - they are same as the g40 nr the head

Nope, the the GT intake manifold is quite clearly larger at the head end.

True and true.
