Title: broken manifold stud stuck in engine!
Post by: gti jack on July 18, 2010, 07:02:57 PM
i was trying to fit my new ppp manifold and on getting my old manifold off i managed to break the stud in the middle of the block and there is no thread sticking out, and i dont have a small enough drill to fit behind the radiator and the manifold so i cant drill it! what have you guys done in this situation?

Drill it and use an easy out, not many other options!

Any local engineering shop with a spark eroder?  Faint hope but worth asking around.

well ive borrowed a friends dremell, im going to try and drill it and get an easy out in there wich should be ok as long as i can get it in there! other wise i think it will have to be the whole front end off to try and get a proper drill in there.

Carefully not to snap the easy out/ stud extractor off in it , it's gotto go in pretty dam straight abd in the centre aswell, if it snapps of in there you'll have a fun time trying to remove it, I'd take the head of n give it to somone with a spark eroding machine
