Title: Gear Stick
Post by: Charlie VW on July 07, 2010, 10:03:46 AM
Hey,

Iwhen i got my G40 it noticed that the Gear stick was fairly low and you had too reach down and stretch to change gear. Now after looking at pictures of other people G40's,etc i can now see the my gear stick looks like it has been cut off about half way down to make it shorter.

How east is it to remove the whole gear stick and replace it?  ???

Thanks,

It's not too difficult, I don't remember any major issues when I took mine apart quite a few years back. Do you have a Haynes manual? It gives some vague instruction, but it also says the selector bush will be destroyed when you dismantle it. I don't remember if this is the case, I think changing it was the reason I took mine apart though.

the bush will be destroyed.

easiest way is get another complete linkage and just swap it over then its 4 bolts a the box bit then 2 wee bolts at the shift finger.
