alright guys! was just wondering what sort of power output id be looking at with the following -
ported head
ported charger
shrick cam
forged pistons
cheers
Ross
Would you be running a smaller pulley?
yeah 65mm pulley also Vernier Pulley, im guessing ill need it mapping? also full stainless exhaust system including manifold
about 150-155bhp depending on mapping
It will more than likely need a reamp.
In my car i have got a large induction kit, standard chager ( ported one is at jabba), toothies, custom intercooler, gt inlet, de-wedge tb, G60 injectors, custom mani and stainless system, adj vernier pulley plus PSD chip to suit and i think my car ir running around 150bhp. Once charger is back gonna do boost return mod, schrick cam and then remap, i think it will be running around the 180bhp mark. My mate had the same setup as me (i have his induction kit, intercooler, toothies, vernier pulley and exhaust system) and his power was 181bhp and 180lbs of toque.
The intercooler helped boost pressure alot and now with the smaller pulley im running 14/15psi.
that with forged pistons? and a ported head?
this will all be on a freshly built engine!
all depends where is rolling roaded.
Varley has that spec with a 1473cc engine and makes about 170odd bhp, nick_s with 1473 and all bolt on mods - high 180s...
rolling roads and bhp figures are only comparable on the same day on the same rolling road.
One sure way to find out - run it at club g40 rolling road day. we tend to have one every year where people can put their money where their mouth is. We use aldon automotive and i tend to run my fully stock g40 as a pace car. So if it that is about on the money, they are accurate
well ill have to attend next year when its done!
Forged pistons wont gain a great deal of power, if any?
im sure i read somewere they create more compression? is this right?
if so wouldnt that give more power?
Accralite pistons will give you 9:1 rather than 8:1 dunno how much power that will give you , that 180bhp jezza is that with a standard 1272cc or a 1341 ?
Just standard antony. I know you get more compression with pistons but i didnt think it was alot?
depends which forged pistons you mean, there's loads of different ones with different capacities and different compression ratios. Simply swapping the cast pistons for some forged ones and retaining 8:1 CR and 1272cc wont make the slightest bit of difference to power in itself. Although it would allow you to be a touch less rich on high rpm, high boost levels when mapping. With cast pistons you need to keep it overly rich really to keep temperatures down, not such an issue with stronger forged pistons.
I think you will all struggle to break much past 165-170bhp with the standard head.

what about with a ported head?
well if done right then that will help you past the 170 mark and towards 180. At which point you're getting to the limits of what is possible without putting a bigger blower on there.
bigger blower?
g60, eaton, turbo etc...
i see! am i right in thinking it is pretty simple n cheap to do a turbo conversion?
