ive also been looking for an organic clutch and so far this is what ive found in the way of organic clutches.

helix organic clutch - cheapest price i have found so far was £250 that was from tsr performance and i said im a member of club gti wich i am so i got a discount dnt think it was very much discount though!! other than there there around the £300 mark direct or from there uk supplier- said to handle 20-30% more torque

cgmotorsport organic - from cgmotorsport costs £120 i think robin on here is running one not sure what quality is like - said to handle 20-30% more torque

Sachs organic clutch- these are sold through sacs themselves or there uk distriubitor again also jabbasport sell this and its in the region of £450 also sold by bar-tek but works out around the same price once german tax is added and postage this is said to handle 220nm of torque wich is 162.2 ftlb

thats all the organic options i found all three of those companys also do paddle clutches rangine from 4-6 paddles and varying from £250-400
hope this helps , let me know how you get on as i would be intrested to know

right, i need help. i cant decide.

i have emailed cg motorsport.  got no response, might ring them tomorow if i get time.

i cant afford a Helix one.

and the ones on bar-tek site, say it can only handle up to 180Nm

i think i will end up getting a CG motorsport non paddle one due to the price.

what are other Eaton engines using as there clutch.

Get the cg motorsport one then that probably what I'm going to do unless I can find somone to do the sachs one a damn sight cheaper !

yeah think that is my only option really.

but i'm still torn between a paddle clutch a little bit still.  as i have mates who have ran paddle clutch set ups in rs turbos etc and they say they are fine once you get use to them, but others poeple say dont bother if you are goin to use the car on the road.

only one way to find out i think. aha

Those cg motoraport ones when I was on the phone the bloke said if I bought an organic one and it got eaten to quickly or I wasn't happy with it they'd sell me just a paddle friction plate as they use the same cover, dunno if that helps.
I done alot of research on paddle clutches as I wasn't sure what to get but I think it all depends on what type of driver you are and what your willing to accept most people I spoke to said if your going to use the car mainly on the road get a normal organic if your going to race like 50% of the time or more the. Get a paddle but apparantly they can be a real pain in the ass parking n stuff like that traffic and there quite hard on the pedle ( is that how you spell it :s) box. Bit harder on the transmisson and drive shafts aswell . See if you can have a drive of someones with a paddle init.

Did you get the four or six paddle option ? Did they talk you into it , by saying that an organic one wouldn't no way handle it ? That's what they said to me on the phone weather it's true or not who knows you'll have to let me know how you get on with the paddle As I'm still slightly undecided myself

nah i just decided to go with the paddle.  for that price it was worth a try i thought.  It wont be up and running for a while yet, so i wont be able to tell you how they are for a while.

6 or 4 paddle ??
Title: Re: Clutch buying

my organic one is starting to slip after about 3000miles of death.

i guess it can't cope with 194bhp!

i'll let it properly die before i invest in a paddle clutch.

PeteG40 (I think it was him) recommended an early Mk4 16v clutch as a cheaper but fully compatible replacement to a 'G40' clutch. 200mm diameter like the standard G40 clutch. I think this is the badger:

I'd just be wary of the quality of that, it doesn't say what make it is that I can see.

Yeah considering the labour involved I'd personally want to be confident in the part.

Well changing a clutch takes less than an hour taking the engine out, can get the LUK clutch from ecp for about £70 sp shall get that one

you can get an engine out and back in, changing the clutch in an hour?!?

I think you need to get the clock in your garage checked, no way can you do a clutch change on a polo in an hour!

If the engine is already out of the car then maybe you can fit the clutch to the engine.

Have done it not taking the engine out and dropping the gb down in about an hour before, managed to get the mk4 clutch for 75, ended up takin the engine out as had the wishbone conversion and that's more of a bastard to fit than takin the engine out! Took about 4 hours
