Title: Importing a G40?
Post by: Max on May 29, 2010, 07:21:56 PM
Chaps has anyone on here imported a G40 from Europe?

Just seems to be a massive amount of decent looking ones for sale in France/Germany...

What would be the pro's and con's?

The only pro I can think of is choice. Other than that I can't think of any good reason at all.
Personally I'd never want a LHD car anyway but unless you happened to be on holiday in Europe at the time of purchase you'd be buying without being able to thoroughly examine the car first - never a good idea. Then you've got to get the car home to Blighty. By the time you've changed the headlights and instrument panel over to RHD spec and completed any legal documents and got it registered - well it's an awful lot of effort just to buy a Polo. At the end of it you'd end up with a car that isn't worth as much in resale value because of it being a left hooker.

But it'll handle and brake so much better than any RHD UK model! ;)

I looked into this a few years back as they were so much cheaper, even to bring back and break! never really got any further than looking at prices and working out travelling costs, etc which will be miles out due to exchange rates, etc.
