Title: thought i would post this, nice little generator...
Post by: DKnight on May 15, 2010, 01:38:03 PM
a bit random i know, but i needed a mobile power unit, sad as it sounds to power some a sound system for when playing basketball lol

but yeah, i saw this on ebay, thought not bad price, worth a punt.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120555887163&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_755wt_1184

it came, unpacked it, turned it on, fired it up.

This is possibly the best thing i have ever bought, the noise level is really quiet, and i ran a normal house stereo system on it for 4 hours, and it used about half a tank of fuel.

Im sure it will be great use at shows (cue the "you never go to f*** shows") camping and the likes

Rated AC output                650 W

Max. AC output                  800 W

Voltage                                240 V    (Option –  12 V x 8.3 amp)

Probably not much good for anything over 650W?

depends on the wattage of the grinder, some small cheap ones are 600watts but decent ones can be a lot more.

A kettle is roughly 3 Kw so no chance there.
As said small grinders are often 600W but a good one may be 850w so it`ll slow down
and die .
Most of the Cradle Honda engine type are rated at 3 Kw but thats max for short periods
and its nominal output will be more like 2.5Kw.
Me! Ihave a 6KVA mother on wheels wich will run my house lol.

Fred.

so what generators would be good to use with a grinder or welder or to power a air compressor? and small enough to be able to get in a car?

You want something in the region of 3kva really for a welder
