Lets say you you had some parts and you aren't sure what the going rate is for said parts where would post to find said going rate?

market research - completed ebay auctions, search the for sale thread on the relevent forums

Or just try and sell it at a price that you would be happy with, if it doesn't sell, reduce the price of it
