Looking to replace the main and lift pumps on my fresh rebuild. Where is the best place to source them from, vw? Or can you get them cheaper elsewhere?
Cheers, Pettsy
I think Euro Car Parts and GSF both do the proper bosch pumps.
That's right eurocarparts do the bosch pumps, they've also updated the website now so you can just enter your reg number and it just brings back the specific parts for the car.
The bosch one that comes up, that is £150, thats the inline one?
What one is the main tank one?
I am doing a turbo conversion, and was wondering, would the standard g40 pumps be sufficient for around 200bhp? If not is there one that most people swap to?
Do believe Yoof still has a G40 pump on his car ;) (220bhp with nos)
Sourced a Bosch one for just over £100 ;D
Where from? Just shopping for the same thing myself.
I just ordered one from vw, £167! Where you get it from and is it same part number?

I remember ages ago you said you were using a different pump and it was a fair bit cheaper than an O.E. one. You were asked at the time which one you were using but you didn't reply. Can't you just tell us the part number Peter?

My local motor factor, have a trade account there. Should be arriving tomorrow so will stick the actual price up when i've paid for it. The bosch part number is 0 580 453 918, which is the same as the genuine one according to http://www.polog40.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,2348.0.html

No as the pump is under my car, which is under a whole host of crap, and 15miles away...
Why not google the G40 numbers for a flow rate, and then find a suitable Bosch pump which gives the same pressure and more flow? That's all I did... not rocket science.
As there's so much interest mine is off an old BMW 5 series 325i, cost me £30 new from e-bay.
A 5-series 325i Yoofy? ;)
Might have been a 7 series Aero... I forget.
;)
Stupid question, but have you uprated both pumps yoof or just one if it is just one wich one is the one to do ? And is it best to keep standard pressure or go up slightly (I do intense on adding some nitrous in the nit to distant future) .
