Title: buying new lambda...
Post by: Alvaro on April 30, 2010, 01:38:08 AM
i'm confused. i'm surching for a new lambda, and i founded on a powersparks store on ebay,
a bosch lambda for g40 but the part number is diferent (0258003171), than my old one(025003114(this part nÂș apears for an 1.0 polo)). what do you think about that?
And, can anyone tell me the diferences between the cat,and non cat lambdas?
thanks for any help.

IIRC the difference in the part numbers is just the length of the wires.
Lambdas for the SPI MK3 Polo engine will have a slighly shorter loom as the mounting point for the plug is on the driver's-side of the inlet manifold. On MPI cars the mounting point is on the passenger-side and so the loom needs to be slighly longer. If you're running a lambda meant for a 1L you may find it fits, but the loom is super taught (far from ideal).
I'm not aware of any cat Vs non-cat differences.

I bought my last lambda from Powersparks too - they were good to deal with.

cheys03 is right, the length of the wires is different between MPi and SPi.
I've always used Just Lambda who do the correct one for G40, or they do a universal one where you just have to join the wires:

Are the lambda's M18?

thanks for the answers.
so, the universal one from justlambda, the one you got to conect the wires, it's a good option
or the specific one is the best choice?

I'd personally always get the genuine bosch unit.
