Ive done my reaserch into braking options and I would rather run the standard g40 wheels and my question is this,
Ive seen it possible to squeeze some wilwood powerlite calipers and 273mm solid volvo discs behind 13's. Would they be as good as some mk2 gti brakes? (I know id have to get 14's)
Thanks
you've seen someone using those brakes on a g40 under the BBS RA wheels?!? I'd be amazed to see that. I have seen bigger brakes under 13s but only with "motorsport" wheels designed for fitting big brakes behind, the RAs are pretty crap for this.
If you want to keep the standard wheels then keep the standard brakes but get some funky pads.
14" BBS RA and Audi 256mm upgrade- looks stock and works loads better, pads/discs are cheap too as it's 16v golf gti stuff
No it wasnt on the standard ra's but thought it might have been possible. Might just go for 14's then. Thanks for your help

It's what i run and you can stand on them all day and they've never let me down, the only down side is that its an extra 1kg(brakes only) per corner of unsprung weight, all depends how fussy you are about your suspension setup. Plus don't forget about the extra tire and wheel weight with 14's, but like people say, if its good value good brakes you want then it s the only way to go!!
Don't forget 22mm master cylinder from the Golf as well!
Not a popular option I know, but I'm running 270mm discs under 14" wheels with a kit from TSR. A bit pricey for what you get, but they have lots of feel and can have you into your seat belt when required. Also the 22mm master cylinder as already mentioned.

Didn't rate 22mm master cyclinder myself, though I think i fitted it back on my 239mm setup, heavy pedal and no feel.
I have got brembo standard discs with red stuff pads and they work really well. Got braided hoses and ap racing 5.1 fluid. Try something like that?
