i've had a search and I can't find:-(
how do I remove the metal breather pod on the back of the engine? really think mines blocked as it's breathing a lot from the rocker and there's nothing coming out of the pod.
haven't looked at the back if the motor yet- I was hoping you guys could point me in the right direction so I don't have to buy a new one.
soaking it in petrol and a good clean shud be ok shudnt it?
I remember Reading there's a metal gauze behind it to clean.
Thanks guys
Its a push/interference fit. Just use a soft mallet and/or a flat bladed screwdriver to lever it out.
Also the black plastic bit attached above it is prone to clogging up aswell.
ok i shall have a go at removing it now. going to remove the inlet manifold and take my time with it.
yer the plastic bit was clogged aswell. i dont have a boost return so i drilled the plastic bit out but it still clogged up.
bloody car! lol i shall take some photos along the way so i can hopefully help others
If you've not got the boost return then you don't need the plastic bit, it's a one way valve that's there to stop boost pressurising the crank case.
i know - thats why i drilled a hole in it. it was a nicer way of putting a pipe on it as it was at 90degrees the outlet then.
guys - got a problem I have a brand new breather pod and the bugger won't go in! anyone else got this problem? I've cleaned out both parts and it just won't go in. I think I'm going to have to sand down the diameter on the brether to get in in.
suggestions please
Leave it in the freezer overnight, then a hammer and block of wood :)
i shall try the freezer trick mate. I've made a bloody tool to get this thing in square so I won't need a block of wood.
cheers mate
yea i done the same to put mine in and it worked no problems mate.
nope - waste of time, its not even close to going in. and the longer im fooking about with it the more damage is appearing on the part.
im close to burning this car - because it is a piece of shit
lol get that feeling regularly! try "carefully" grinding away some material around the lip of the breather to give it a little shamfer, hopefully this will help it get started! It worked on mine as it wouldnt go back in for love nor money and that was with the engine on a stand!
the part was made badly. i got the old one back out the bin and the new one was shit. the flat mating surface wasnt flat - it was crushed causing a buldging on the mating face. i have had to sand down the budge to get it in
