A G40 engine should slot easy into a mk2 bay. Been done quite afew times iirc.

hi, welcome to the forum.

There's no "hacking" involved, it's all bolt-in stuff.  You'll need (and there may be bits I've forgotten, I'm sure others will add to this):

- engine and all ancillaries such as charger, inlet/exhaust manifolds, alternator, distributor etc...
- engine wiring loom, ECU
- complete fuelling system, i.e. fuel tank, fuel lines, fuel pumps, fuel pump & filter mouting bracket
- not essential but it's best to use a proper G40 gearbox as the ratios are better suited than others but a 5 speed CL box (usually coded 8P) will be a reasonable option, although any 084/085 box will fit
- exhaust system
- depending on the age of the mk2 you might need the handbrake cables from a late mk2 or mk3
- intercooler and all boost pipes
- g40 front brakes
- ignition coil

ideally get a complete crash damaged car, then you know you should have everything
