Title: Top End Tapping

il start with modifications:
stage 4 charger
65mm pulley
GT inlet manifold
4 branch
jabba induction
chip to suit

il drive round town and its all fine but wen i drive down a motorway 60-70 for 5 miles or more the top end starts to tap quite loudly obviously starved of oil, wonder what suggestions any of u ad? im using 10-40w mobile 1.

servicing yourtappets or new ones would probably help - or an oil cooler.

sounds like a sticking tappet. .Only real solution is to replace them or at least remove them, disassemble and clean them.

Nice one Rae, I didn't know they could be stripped. I'd recommend putting each small spring on a cable tie as soon as they're removed, preferably a yellow or orange one. Much less likely to lose them then. But you could still lose your little balls!

Won't be cleaning mine, new ones will be going in as I'm changing the cam, but I would only do one at a time anyway. But with a spring that small breathe too hard and it could be gone!

appreciate the replys il put this info to good use. the engine has had a previous rebuild so i would believe they could do with being replaced?
