Title: Non g40 auxillary drive v-belt wich one ??

Ok went to vw today to get a few bits one of witch was an auxilary drive belt the v-type for non g40's and it says they come in two different sizes I think one was 9.5mm wide and one was 11.5mm wide , does any one know wich one I need as they where both different legnths and he said they changed mid 1991 I think . Also is there a website I can get part numbers and exploded diagrams from or can you get a copy of EKta I tried this before but my copy wouldn't work properly!! Thanks guys

good website really good for pictures bits n the like but ... still only shows what ekta showed me today at vw theres still two belts to choose from ones 9.5mm wide the other is 11.9mm wide with the latter being  about 100mm longer still wondering wich one to get as i dont want to have to waste money on a belt i dont need .
any ideas any one ??

i don't really know how you expect anyone to answer this. I assume you have got pullies off some random mk3 for your turbo conversion, we can't possibly know wat size belt this car used!

what else can a picture in a parts catalogue show you?  You'll need to measure it up, or just buy both belts and see, they're only a few quid from a motor factors.

It was only a question, I've heard more stupid questions than that asked on here and they get a reply but as Soon as I ask a question it's absaloutly ridiculous and how could it ever be answeared!!

only trying to point out the fact that you wont get an answer for this so you're best of measuring it or just buying both belts, dare say you could even return the wrong one afterwards.

Lol I get smited all the time dnt bother me what karma I gt . I did try n measure the pulley on the altenator but it was hard yo jusdge where the belt sits I'll just buy both  , I mite even have two different pulleys never considered that before. Ohh well vagcag is a gd website to know though so atleast something gd came out of this balls up.

I think the belts are ~£6-7 from VW. IMO well worth it. I've just changed a GSF belt for a VW one after the GSF model refused to stop making horrendous squeaking noises (even after 1,000miles). VW belt silent.

When compared side-by-side the GSF belt was noticably thinner than the VW belt. This is for a 1994 Mk3.

never had issues with £2.50 belts from halfords myself.
