Title: pistons question
Post by: sinister polo on January 15, 2010, 09:02:44 PM
hi all,

basically im going 1341, big valve head and a k03 and im wondering which pistons are best to use,
i was thinking wossners as they keep the standard comp ratio, but iv also heard that accralites are
better for turboed engines?

please enlighten me!

From what I understand, and I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong but accRalite
pistons give a 9:1 cr wich is better for fuell economy, off boost power and drivability it will offer you more power lowerdown the rev range wich is good for road going cars .

Your second option is the wossners wich retain the same cr of 8:1 wich means you can more easily run higher boost without any danger of detonation occouring but you don't get the benifits mentioned above.

Your finial option is to go for je pistons wich are inbetween the two with a 8.5:1 cr

The only thing I will say is that accralites with the setup you have mentioned has been tried and tested and works very well all the off the shelf maps are suited to these pistons and I. My opinion they are the best choice for a road going car and the ones I shall be using when I do reborw my block next year sometime . Have a search through past threads I'm sure this UAE been covered a couple of times In more detail and with better explainaition that mine. Hope this helps

prob accralites for a road car and wossners for a track car.  speak to whoever is going tol remap the ecu for you 1st and make sure they agree and can map to suit.
