Title: Disc question
Post by: Jezza-7 on January 15, 2010, 01:34:16 PM
My brembo disc asre taking 3 weeks to get to me know so im looking at other options.

Does anyone know if black diamond disc's are drilled propely and not just dimple/drilled?

Also what is difference between "drilled" and "cross drilled"?

not many people use drilled discs as they tend to crack round the holes with heat.

Most people like plain discs! me being one of them

Yeah i have herd that they tend to crack, so cross drilled and drilled are really the same?

I'n not sure, but I think they just the same. It's only the fully drilled discs that crack, which is why some are only dimpled. I can't remember the reason for holes and grooves.

grooves to cut into the pd for better grip off pad and being clean surface
drilled only to aid cooling more.

both are mainly there to help get rid of brake dust.  the brake specialist at rally design once told me that they're not worth it unless using full-on very soft racing pads.  def dont bother with drilled as thjey are prone to cracking, will also wear out pads quicker.  I just use factory brembo plain discs on mine with my wilwood calipers and pads

Lol could be a possibiltiy of getting decent calipers as that seems like an easier option rather then getting golf ones of caliver ones. I think wilwood ones would be a hell of alot better.

Hayesey are any of these the ones you fitted?
