ill wait till i have full info but how many people will be interested in a groupe buy. need 15 now min to be worth shipping over to me. work out at around £120 deliverd and i am making no money at all on them as ill have to post them to you once i get them. will be standard g40 radiator dimentions and where the fan bolts onto and things as they are working off a standard g40 radiator.
count me in!
dont think you'll get cheaper than this. maybe put it on club polo too.
is it deffo a g40 rad they are working off and not a normal polo 1? that seems really cheap the cheapest i have seen before is 265 on ebay.
steve
Who's making these for you? I work for a company that makes OEM rads, and I'm always wary of some of the so-called upgrade alloy rads. Cheap ones are nowt special as far as performance goes. They may look good but some don't have proper airways (no slits in the fins. These louvres direct air in such a way as to increase heat exchange). Some I've seen also have fins which are not properly brazed to the tubes, poor or non existant bonding will result in shite performance as heat exchange can't take place across the air gap. The main factors to consider are: -
- fin pitch (how many fins per unit length, generally more fins = better perfomance but is gets to a point where the restriction to the air flow is too great and performance will drop off). Generally, rads will have a fin pitch of around 1.3/1.4mm.
- tube size (bigger tubes have lower internal pressure loss but are less thermally efficient). Also, bigger tubes = less surface area for heat exchange (because you can't fit as many into the core for a given size). Some tubes are also dimpled, this increases turbulence of the coolant for better heat exchange.
Small rad manufacturers (such as those who re-core rads for the public) tend to use 'off the shelf' tubes and airways made my other companies and they may not be ideally suited to the application they are advertised for. With an average car they'll probably be fine, but worst case is not enough cooling for a high performance engine. I'm not saying all these rads/companies are no good, some will no doubt be excellent, but I wouldn't want people spending money on a rad which may not be up to the job.
I will have one too.
I am not interested in buying one (skint as) but would also like to see the stats requested above.
Also - are you finding your car running hot?
i will be interested in one if you can give us some stats on them
steve
dono pal, my car still isnt running :D
is their anymore info on these then?
really interested but dont wanna waste money on a rad that is gonna be no better than the one i have atm
steven
it will be a standard size rad in full alloy with a 34mm core
oh sod it i,ll have one it cant be any worse than the one i have now lol
steven
the ones i was gonna get where going to be shipped to a port and id have to collect and sort customs out. i have been in touch with an english company now that make them he emailed me this,
Hi sorry for delay only we have just come back from doing the autosport show at nec,as for prices 5 off @ £195+vat ea 10 off @ £172+vat ea and 20 + off @ £161+vat ea.Hope this is of some help Regards Darren
but i dont think we'll get 20 people interested.
have you tried putting this on clubpolo?
might help with boosting the numbers?
you want to try asking on some Locost/kit car forums as they love polo rads and are prob more likely to want fancy shiney things than most club polo members ;)
in fact i think the only reason companies make alloy polo rads is for the kit car demand.
not the shiny factor im after its the cooling factor. alot of kit cars do use the polo rad though. caterhams mainly.
havent really tried anywhere yet mate other than on here.

Westfield Universal radiator. Fitment as original. A lot of Kit cars were fitted with the VW Polo radiator, plastic tank alloy poor performance core. Radtec have made an all aluminium vastly uprated version of this radiator
that can be fitted as a direct replacement to original.
Optional extras:
1)Powder coated - £35
is the rad in the above pic the one you are gonna get or is this jus a random pic?
