I thought all mk2 and mk3 ones were the same, whats different about late mk3 ones?  I know 6n ones are different.

Must have been right on the back end of Mk3 production, all the L-reg ones I've seen have been early.

Does anyone know the length differance between early and late shafts? A guess would be the differance between a 6N output flange and a Mk3 one is the length differance between the shafts also.

If the mk3 has a C** series code gear box then it will have the later coupling on the drivers side.

The top one is the later mk3 offside flange and the bottom the early mk3 offside flange.

Here is the next change

Left one is a late mk3 flange and the right one is a 6n/mk3 golf 085 version.

Lesh what gearbox code is on your G40? It should be either an ATV or CEK.

If its a CEK, i have few spare later flanges.

How have you managed to break yours? Stripped a thread for one of the 6 driveshafts bolts ???

Someone may have a broken mk3 polo gearbox you can get one from or if desperate try VW parts desk at the dealership for a price.
