Title: Knackered Damper?
Post by: Robin on December 30, 2009, 06:05:04 PM
This is not on the G but on a Lupo, when the engine is loaded up (ie, full throttle at 2000rpm) there is a very heavy vibration/shaking coming from the passenger side, as soon as i take my foot off the throttle the shaking goes.

Its not the wheel balancing as that should shake with or without engine load plus i have tried another wheel.

I have checked all the bushes and they are all ok.

I have changed the top mount and that didn't solve the issue, however when i took the spring off the damper the middle piston dropped down slowly, now from what i can remember the piston should slowly rise up without the spring in place. Can anyone confirm this is true? I am thinking its a shagged damper which is causing the shaking.

yes it should slowly rise up, also if there is any gunk coming out the damper around the seals then its definatley shagged!

You'll know if it's properly gone Rocket as they usually take on air and make a 'squelchy' sound.

I'm back tomorrow if you want me to come round?

If it's engine seppd/load related I doubt it's a suspension issue mate.
