Title: New member says hi!
Post by: Puncharado on December 18, 2009, 12:46:13 AM
Hi everyone, I've just signed up.
Bit of backround. I own a 1991 Tornado red G40, had it 8 or 9 years now. Pic shows it at it's best, Singleton car show, Swansea, in May 2003. I hadn't long finished putting it back together after a paintjob and overhaul, damn it looked good!
Looked good, 'cos a year later it was parked on my parents drive and barely moved for 5 years. I'm ashamed to say it's now in need of some slight attention, and has recently been moved to a rented garage before it turned to dust!
So the time has come to get it back into shape, and I've signed up to the club to hopefully get some inspiration from those of you who love your G40's as much as I once did!
So hello, and Merry Christmas!

Hi, car looked great, can you post some pics up of it now??

Hi everyone!
Not got any pics of it at the moment, but it needs a little more than just a polish! In my wisdom(?) I decided to whip the head off for a stage 1 job, but didn't actually take it off. So it was left with the cam covers off, and the charger, alternator, fan shroud, headlights, and various other bits in the boot. At the moment there is nothing on the front end, the rad is knackered, there are a few areas of rust here and there, rear calipers are seized, and all the chromed, polished, and painted bits are in a bit of a mess. I'm dreading having a look underneath!
I've just insured it for 3 months, so I need to get it MOT'd by then. I think firstly I'll put it back together and get it to an MOT centre. Once I've got that then I can at least drive it, but I'm probably then gonna go full on and bring it back to life properly.
'Charger has had a Jabbasport R1 conversion, but although it turns OK I'm slightly worried as it's been in a damp boot for so long. I want to get it checked out, are Jabba still the best place, or is there somewhere else now?

No problem in having it stripped, a wise precaution. I think I'll probably get it to Jabbasport, they did it in the first place after all.

No recent pictures, it doesn't look that good at the moment. But on the upside I've probably thought more about the car in the last couple of days than I have done in the past couple of years!
