Title: Reccomend a kit
Post by: metz on December 12, 2009, 07:46:51 PM
I'm looking for a Damper and Spring kit for the red coupe. So many to choose from has anyone got reccomendations?
I want it to be as comfortable as possible but handle like its on rails. i know the two dont go hand in hand but there must be a middle ground somewhere.

I drove a stockish G40 with a H&R kit on it and that was very good for the money, lots better than an FK one. Eibach springs and Koni shocks were the classic combo back in the day - think that's a Pete Mirfin preferred setup.

depends if you want it low...

I like the koni/eibach but it only lowers like 5mm

my preferred set up is koni yellows on stock g40 springs

I've got an H&R cup kit and that's great. Very comfortable compared to others I've experienced.  Very good kit. I've got G laderseite anti roll bar blocks too and they are a good combo.

It was about 3 years ago now I can't remember to be honest. It's not as bad as the weitec kit you've mentioned though.

Both the G's on my drive are running H&R cup kits purchased form PhilJ on clubpolo, both are fitted with the G-laderseite anti roll bar blocks, lower stut braces and similar profile tyres, they seem to drive nice, not to stiff (depends what profile tyres you choose to run). However my mates G has an upper stut brace, and a rear strut brace which to be fair make the car a little to stiff for my liking.

Just to note, if you intend on running a larger bore exhaust with the H&R, where the pipe kinks to clear the rear axel, you will find it catching things a lot more and speed bumps become your arch nemesis.

Hope that helps
