Title: eratic idle

Having  problems with engine tickover keeps hunting then stalls seems worse when cold.
thinking it could be isv ? are they a common problem and where would i get replacement
pressuming main dealer.

yeah main dealer only and they're not cheap.

Try cleaning it out first though with carb cleaner, might just be stuck.

Ive got an ISV in my G40 bits box if needed if your desperate.

don't rule out other things though, yes the ISV could be knackered but there are other things that could be having an impact on your idle.

Jim... you changed the Hall Sender yet?  Common Polo Problem and pretty much your symptoms!!!

Well Distributor as a whole item then, possibly its throwing the ignition timing out all the time?  Cant think of anything else bar an ECu problem that would throw up a high speed RPM on vag-com when at idle (abit like a trigger wheel gone tits on a throttle body application).  Revving up could be it trying to catch it?
